Activate your Computer User ID (employees)


All new employees must activate their Computer User ID (CUID) prior to being able to use computers on campus or Wi-Fi.

Your CUID allows you to access the following:

  • Computers on campus
  • Wi-Fi
  • myFiles (off-campus file access)
  • Logging into Ricoh printers
  • Brightspace by D2L


NOTE: Among the information sent to you when you were accepted as a new employee, is your new Langara email address. This address contains your CUID. It is the portion of your email in front of the So, if your name was John Smith, then your email would be and your CUID would be jsmith. Use your CUID in the following instructions.

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to the ID Self Service website:
  2. Click the Activate Account link
  3. When prompted, enter your Computer User ID and click Activate
  4. Check your personal email address for an email titled Activation Verification from
    • This will be the email address you supplied to HR when you were hired and where you received your onboarding information from HR
  5. Select the click here link within the activation email
  6. Select Continue
  7. Enter a new password that meets the listed password requirements and click Change Password
  8. When the password is ready you will be taken to a page that states Your password has been changed successfully
  9. You may click the Continue button or simply close the tab/browser
