Overview

All employees must activate their Computer User ID (CUID) and Email account prior to being able to use computers on campus, access email or connect to Wi-Fi. Both are activated at the same time using the instructions below.

Your Computer User ID (CUID) allows you to access the following:

  • Langara owned Mac Computers
  • Employee laptops
  • myFiles (off-campus file access)
  • Logging into Ricoh printers

Your Email is used for:

Solution

CAUTION: You will need both your Langara email address and temporary password to activate your account

To get your Langara email address

  1. Log in to your preferred non-Langara email address and open the "Welcome to Langara College" email previously sent to you
  2. Note your Langara email address in the "Welcome to Langara College" email

To get your temporary password

  1. Log in to your preferred non-Langara email address and open the "Welcome from Langara IT" email previously sent to you
  2. Note your temporary password in the "Welcome from Langara IT" email

To activate your account

  1. Click on this link to activate your account
  2. Enter your Langara email address
  3. Click Next
  4. Enter your temporary password
  5. Create a new password for your account
  6. Click Sign in

Your CUID and Langara email account should now be active

To setup your 2FA

NOTE: Setting your additional authentication methods will also allow you to reset your password in the future

  1. A window stating "More information required" will open on your first sign in attempt. Click Next.
  2. Setup your additional authentication method. On the Keep your account secure window:
    • If you would like to setup the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smart phone as your additional authentication method click Next.
      • Follow the steps in the 2-Factor Authentication instructions article found in the Related Articles section
    • If you would like to use a different method, click on I want to use a different method.
      • Phone method:
        1. Choose Phone and click Confirm
        2. Choose your country code and enter your phone number
        3. Choose Text me a code or Call me
        4. Click Next
        5. Check your phone for the 6-digit verification code (via call or text message depending on what you selected previously) and enter the code on your computer when prompted
        6. Click Next
        7. Click Next again
      • Email method
        NOTE: We recommend using your preferred non-Langara email address where you received the "Welcome from Langara IT" email
        1. Choose Email and click Confirm
        2. Enter your personal (non-Langara) email address
        3. Click Next
        4. Click Next again
  3. Click Done
