Overview
Students and employees can connect Android phones and tablets to the eduroam Wi-Fi network when on campus.
CAUTION: eduroam will not work on devices running Android verion 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or lower
Solution
To connect your Android phone or tablet to the eduroam wireless network, follow the steps below.
If you do not have a dataplan on your device, follow these steps first:
- Open the Settings app
- Tap Wi-Fi
- in the lists of networks tap on Langara
- Enter your Computer User ID and password
- Tap the Login button
- Tap Done
Proceed to the steps below to complete the connection to eduroam.
If you have a dataplan on your device:
- Open any Internet browser such as Chrome
- In the address bar enter wifi.langara.ca
- Tap the Download button to bring up the Google Play Store App
- Tap Install to download the SecureW2 App (Do not open the App)
- Return to the Internet browser and tap the JoinNow button
- Enter your Langara e-mail address (Computer User ID + @langara.ca for employees; Computer User ID + @mylangara.ca for Students) and password
- Tap the Continue button
- Tap Done to exit the installation process
Eduroam and eduroam5GHz will now be properly configured on your device. Your device will connect to eduroam automatically whenever you are in range of the wireless network when on campus.
