Connect to Wi-Fi on Android phone or tablet

Overview

Students and employees can connect Android phones and tablets to the eduroam Wi-Fi network when on campus.

NOTE -  Students and employees now need to authenticate with Microsoft Authenticator app when signing in to register their device with eduroam. Devices will work for 2 years before having to be re-registered.

CAUTION: eduroam will not work on devices running Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or lower

If you do not have a data plan on your device, follow these steps first:

  1. Open the Settings app

  1. Open any Internet browser, such as Chrome
  2. In the address bar enter wifi.langara.ca

    • If you are not prompted for credentials, use the Chrome browser and click on JoinNow button.
  4. Tap Install to download the SecureW2 JoinNow App (Do not open the App)
  5. Return to the Internet browser and tap the JoinNow button
  6. Enter your Langara email address (Computer User ID + @langara.ca for employees; Computer User ID + @mylangara.ca for Students) and password
  7. You will be promoted to authenticate using Microsoft Authenticator application on your mobile device.
  8. When prompted, click Save to save eduroam network to your phone

TIPIf you previously connected to eduroam using the JoinNow app and are now having difficulties, try uninstalling the JoinNow app and reinstalling it from the app store.

eduroam, eduroam5GHz, and eduroam6GHz (if your device is capable) will now be properly configured on your device. Your device will connect to the eduroam network automatically whenever you are in range of the wireless network when on campus.
