Overview
Students and employees can connect iPhones and iPads to the eduroam Wi-Fi network when on campus.
NOTE - Students and employees now need to authenticate with Microsoft Authenticator app when signing in to register their device with eduroam. Devices will work for 2 years before having to be re-registered.
Solution
CAUTION: Your Computer User ID must be activated before you can connect to Wi-Fi. If you have not activated your account, please follow the instructions in Activate your Computer User ID and Email (students) article.
To connect your iPhone or iPad to the eduroam wireless network, follow the steps below.
TIP - If your phone has a data plan, you can skip directly to the section on connecting to eduroam.
If you do not have a data plan on your device, follow these steps first:
- Open the Settings app
- Tap Wi-Fi
- In the lists of networks select Langara. You will then be prompted to sign in.
- Enter your Langara email address and password
- Tap the Login button
- You will now have Internet access to follow the next set of steps to connect to eduroam
NOTE - Connection to the Langara wireless network will only last for an hour before it disconnects. Follow the steps below to connect to eduroam to connect to the Internet for a longer-term when you are on campus.
Proceed to the steps below to complete the connection to eduroam.
- Open the Safari browser app
- CAUTION - Only Safari will work to connect to eduroam.
- In the address bar enter wifi.langara.ca
- Name your device and click Sign In
- Enter your Langara email address (Computer User ID + @langara.ca for employees; Computer User ID + @mylangara.ca for Students) and password
- You will be promoted to authenticate using Microsoft Authenticator application on your mobile device.
- After successful authentication, go back to wifi.langara.ca in Safari and click JoinNow button
- Allow the download of the configuration profile, you will get Profile Downloaded message
- Go to Home screen, then Settings
- Choose Profile Downloaded
- Choose Install
- Enter your passcode (if one has been set)
- Tap Install
- Tap Done to exit the installation process
eduroam, eduroam5GHz, and eduroam6GHz (if your device is capable) will now be properly configured on your device. Your device will connect to the eduroam network automatically whenever you are in range of the wireless network when on campus.
