How to create tickets on the AskIT Portal

Overview

The fastest way to get service is to fill out the appropriate service request from the service catalog. These requests are designed to get all the information IT needs to process the request and automatically assign it to the right team, whether it be for a new ID card or to get Banner access. 

Solution

Step-by-step - How to submit a specific service request ticket

  1. Go to the AskIT home page 
  2. Sign in with your Office 365 account at the top right corner 
  3. Click Open a Ticket in the menu 
  4. Select the appropriate service category  
  5. Select the service you want and click the button on the top right menu to open the fillable form  
  6. While IT is continually working to add new services, you may need help with something that isn’t listed yet. In those cases, you should choose the General support service under the category that best matches your request or issue. Each category has its own unique general support service (E.g., General Accounts Support, General Device & Printing Support, etc.) . 

TIP - If you can’t find an appropriate general support service, you can create a General Technical Support ticket.  

Step-by-step - How to submit a General Technical Support ticket   

  1. Go to the AskIT home page 
  2. Sign in with your Office 365 account at the top right corner 
  3. Click General Technical Support under Popular Services on the bottom left corner of the home pageUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Click Request Help. Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. Fill the ticket Subject and Requester Information and provide as much detail of what you need. This will helps the team better assess the service you need and more quickly pass it on to the appropriate team. 

NOTE - Support will be quicker if you submit a specific service request as it takes time to triage the General Technical Support tickets and other General Support Service tickets. Generally, the processing speed times go in the following order from fastest to slowest: Specific service, General Support service under a category, General Technical Support service.
