Overview
When a Langara-issued laptop is no longer needed because the employee is leaving the College, it should be returned to the IT Service Desk to be removed from service. This can be done by the employee themselves, or by their manager or supervisor if the employee has already left.
NOTE - If an employee is returning their laptop, confirm with the why and when their contract ends. We will not hold on to or store a device for a user if they are going on vacation or on parental leave. We do not have a service for this. This is only for employees whose contract has ended or is ending with Langara College.
The return of the equipment, including the LINs of all of the devices must be noted in a ticket. If the user did not create a ticket initially, the technician who receives the equipment must create a ticket. All devices must be labelled with the ticket number and full name of the user and taken back to the IT office, held at desk of whichever tech is responsible for the ticket.
All files and programs on the laptop will be deleted after it is returned. Laptops will be held for two weeks before the hard drive is erased, in case the laptop was returned in error.
