MS Office error "Sorry, another account from your organization is already signed in on this computer"

Overview

When opening MS Office 365 Apps in Citrix, following error message comes up:

Sorry, another account from your organization is already signed in on this computer

This can happen if you have setup Outlook before activating office in Citrix environment and have added a shared generic email account.

Solution

Do following steps:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Go through the process to 2FA
  3. Go through the process to Activate Office at the next window
  4. At this point Office 365 should be activated and you can confirm by navigating to H:\Office365 folder and verify 2 activation token files
  5. Once you open any of the office products - they should be fully activated with full functionality
    • This can be confirmed by going to File > Account > About Word/Excel/Powerpoint
