Who can request this service?

Overview
An extension is a four-digit number assigned to a physical phone. Depending on the need, this can be an external or internal number.
External extensions, typically starting with 5xxx, are direct lines and can be called from outside the College without first calling the switchboard. The Switchboard is an example of an external line: 604-323-5511.
Internal extensions, typically starting with 3xxx and 2xxx (this can grow as more are used), can only be called directly from within the College. These are not direct lines and therefore require the the switchboard to redirect. These can be called externally by calling 604-323-5511 (Switchboard) and then dialing the extension.
Typically, extensions are created for staff, faculty, services, departments, and phone queues.
Each physical phone is associated with a primary extension, typically in the format of a room number (e.g. RM B333). This exists to help with the management of phones and will not be changed. As employees move around, their local numbers will be added or removed as secondary extensions to the phone.
