Network Drive File/Folder Recovery

Who can request this service?

Faculty, Staff

Overview

Files and folders stored on network drives (both for individuals and departments) are backed up on a regular basis and can be restored under certain conditions if requested.

Note that backups of network files are done on a nightly basis so it is not possible to recover a file from the same day, though a recovery from the previous day can be done.
Student Recovery Requests must be made via Faculty.

  • Full backups of all network files are kept for up to three months
  • Daily backups are kept for up to one month

Before you make request

Please ensure you have the following:

  • The name of the file(s)/folder(s). If you do not know the exact name include as much information on the name as possible.
  • The full network drive path. E.g. J:\Department\Data\File.docx
  • The time/date of the last known working version of the file. If the exact time is not known, offer the best guess.

After you make request

You will receive an email notification from the email system with a ticket number for reference. You may reply to the email if you have any further details or questions.
Upon completion of the request, you will receive an email from IT requesting that you confirm all is as requested.
