PDF file will not load

Overview

PDFs are often set by default to open in browsers. This will typically not create any issues, but some files do not open properly in browsers.

This can be resolved by directly opening the file in a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader (which can be downloaded for free onto a personal device) or by changing the default PDF program.

Solution (If appropriate)

  1. If you are getting the file from a browser that prompts you to either Open or Save (such as Firefox), use the drop-down menu to select Adobe Acrobat Reader
  2. If you are not prompted to open the file when downloading it, save it somewhere easy to navigate to
  3. Right-click on the file and select Open with either Adobe Acrobat Reader, Adobe Acrobat DC, or another PDF reader

If you are wanting to change your default PDF reader away from a browser, see Related Articles for more help
