Overview

Starting in August 2024 User Based VPN access requires 2FA to increase network security.  You will now need to authenticate to connect to VPN with a non-Langara device.

Solution

To authenticate with User Based VPN, please do the following:

  1. Open the Global Protect agent in the system tray which should show as disconnected:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Click on Connect
  2. You should then see the following notice:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. If prompted, enter your email address:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  4. Enter your password and click on Sign In:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  5. You should then be prompted to enter a number in to your authenticator app on your phone (Token users can click on "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now"):Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
    1. Users new to the Microsoft Authenticator application can refer to the following KBA for guidance: Article - Set up 2FA using the Micros... (teamdynamix.com)
    2. Token users, when clicking on "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now", should see something similar to the following:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Click on Use a verification code
    3. You should then get a prompt to enter your token code.
      Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)Enter the code generated from your token and click on "Verify".
  6. You should then see the following, select your preference:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. Your Global Protect Icon should now show as connected:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
