Overview
Most courses offered at Langara have an online component available in Brightspace. Each Brightspace course is linked to Banner through an automated integration, which means enrollment changes in Banner are reflected in Brightspace on a scheduled basis, not in real time.
Solution
NOTE - Courses will not appear in Brightspace until the first day of the term. If the new term hasn't started yet, you will not see your course in Brightspace.
If you are not seeing your course in Brightspace after the first day of classes, check the following in order:
- Confirm you are registered in the course by logging into the Student Information System. If you are not registered, contact Registrar and Enrolment Services (RES).
- Check with your instructor to confirm they are using Brightspace for the course this term. Not all courses have an online component. If the instructor has not yet activated the course, it will appear in Brightspace once they do.
- If your instructor has confirmed there is an active online component, ask them to check whether you appear in the Brightspace class list.
- If you do appear in the class list but still cannot see the course, contact RES.
- If you do not appear in the class list, and you have been registered in Banner for more than 24 hours, this is a Banner-Brightspace integration issue that needs to be resolved by IT. Follow step 4.
- Submit a General Accounts Support ticket through the AskIT portal. Include the following in your request:
- Your Langara ID
- The CRN of the course
- The date you registered in Banner
- A note confirming you have already verified your registration with RES and that you do not appear in the Brightspace class list
