Get new non-standard accessories

Overview

Employees can request purchase of specific keyboards, mice or other accessories if needed. This purchase is not part of IT budget and will need to be paid by the requester's department.

All requests require a business case and approved by IT first before it goes to the purchasing department.

IT will pay for all keyboard or mice requests that are part of an official ergonomic assessment (this assessment is done by an ergonomic consultant and the request is submitted by Facilities). Ergonomic assessments can be requested via Facilities' Work Request form and selecting Safety, Security and Emergency Management.

Solution

As a general rule the preference is to buy Logitech brand devices

The list below is what IT would recommend to buy, but any other keyboards, mice or accessories can also be considered.

Common non-standard accessories:

  • Wireless Mouse:
    • Logitech mouse
  • Wireless Mouse and Keyboard Combo:
  • Ergonomic:
    • Ergonomic requests need to come from the Ergonomic office (ergonomic requests sent by anyone other than an ergonomic officer will not be processed)
      • To submit an ergonomic request please submit Health & Safety Request. You will be asked for the best method of contact and someone from the Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Team will contact you.
    • More ergonomic options ErgoCanada
    • Any other keyboard recommended by ergonomic assessor
    • Ergonomic assessments are only valid for a year. After that a new assessment is required.
