Sharing a Document in SharePoint without Generating an EMail

Overview

When sharing files in SharePoint, users may not want to generate a massive amount of emails if sharing to a large group of people.  Use the following method to share a file without notification.

Solution

  1. Navigate to the file you wish to share and hover your mouse over it, you should see three dots:Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  2. Click on the three dots and select Manage access from the list that appearsUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  3. In the Manage access window, click on the person icon in the upper right cornerUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  4. Enter the name, group, or email of the people you want to access the file and specify what access they should have:

  5. Ensure "Notify people" is unchecked and click on Grant accessUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  6. You should then see an Access Granted window pop up
