Setup Authenticator App for Self Serivce Password Reset (SSPR)

Overview

Using the authentication app for SSPR adds an extra layer of security to your Langara account. With the app, you'll need to check your one-time password code for any requests to reset your password. This ensures that only you have access to your account and that your personal information stays safe.

Solution

1. If you never register any method for self service password reset (SSPR) and sign in to you Office 365 account. Microsoft will ask for more information from you as below screenshot and click Next

or if you want to add Authenticator app for SSPR, please follow below steps. 

  1. Sign in to your Office 365 account, using your existing password.
  2. Select your profile on the upper-right side.
  3. Click on View account.
  4. Click on UPDATE INFO in Security info Box
  5. Click on Add sign-in method
  6. Select Authenticator App as below Screenshot

2. Then It will ask you to download Microsoft Authenticator app from the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android) on your phone.

Click Next after you install Microsoft Authenticator app on you device.

3. Click Next

4. Stay at QR code page and wait for the phone to scan the QR code

5. On your Authenticator app from you phone, choose Add account

6. Select Other account and it will turn on you camera from your phone to scan QR code

NOTE - After QR code scan, click Next on the QR page from step 4

7. select Langara College from the phone will bring you to view your one-time password codeUploaded Image (Thumbnail)

NOTE - below screenshot shown you the password code looks like and it will change every 30 seconds

8. Enter the password code and click on Next

9. If the password code you entered is match then it will show you a success message like below. Click Done and finish the setup
