Microsoft Forms content identified as cybersecurity threat

Overview

Microsoft Forms is a great tool that Langara employees are using increasingly for collaboration, to solicit feedback, gather information in a structured fashion, etc. Unfortunately, these tools are also increasingly used by threat actors with malicious intent to impersonate legitimate users and cause harm (i.e., phishing and other social engineering threat tactics). As such, Microsoft defense tools used by the College continuously scan such forms and may misidentify a threat, thereby blocking a legitimate form from reaching intended recipients. Given threats are constantly evolving in the wild, it is difficult for IT to advise on what elements might trip the wire and trigger a block.

Therefore, in the event of a block that tags your form as a false-positive threat, please submit an AskIT ticket via the Cybersecurity Question service. This will be quickly routed to the Cybersecurity team to review and whitelist accordingly. The Cybersecurity team aims to prioritize and respond to these requests within the same day they are submitted.
