Check shared mailbox owners and members

Summary

How to check a shared mailbox's owners and members in Outlook Web App (OWA)

Body

Overview

Technicians can now confirm who the owners and members of a shared mailbox are by using Outlook Web Application (OWA). Previously, this information had to be looked up by Infrastructure.

Solution

NOTE - Any changes to membership or owners can take up to 2 hours to complete and in some cases overnight. Only current owners can assign new owners.

NOTE - Shared mailbox access is managed by the -mbox- group. The -mbox- groups all follow the same naming convention: mailboxname-mbox-access.

  1. Log into OWA
  2. Click on the New mail button in the top left corner
  3. In the To: field, type in the shared mailbox's -mbox- group name as per the naming convention above.
    EXAMPLE - avpaoffice-mbox-access
  4. Outlook will search as you type. Select the correct group and right click on it and select Contact Card, then Members
  5. You will now be able to see the shared mailbox's owners and members
