Your mailbox has reached its maximum size limit

Overview

Outlook has a maximum profile size capacity that, when reached, will give an error and stop you from using some features.

Solution

Disable the cache or change it to at least one year:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click the File tab
  3. Click Account Settings then click Account Settings again from the pop-out menu
  4. If there are multiple accounts listed, make sure the desired account is highlighted by clicking on it, then click the Change... button
  5. Adjust the slider "Download email for the past" to the right until it is set to at least one year or disable cache by unchecking "Use Cached Exchange Mode" under Offline Settings
  6. Click Next
  7. Click Done
  8. Restart Outlook

Error Code

Your mailbox has reached its maximum size limit at which you cannot send or receive any more content. Empty your deleted items folder from Outlook or delete messages from your mailbox to create more space.

Cause (If Known)

The error is caused by an Outlook account's OST files getting near 50gb in size which is the maximum Outlook 2016/365 allows by default.
