No user specific ColorSync folder on Macintosh computers

Summary

Mac users sometimes need to have ColorSync profiles for printing and color matching programs. These profiles are stored in the operating system as well as in the users own profile.

Overview

A user will attempt to add a ColorSync profile to their user profile but cannot find the ~/Library/*username*/ColorSync directory

Solution

  1. Navigate to /Users/*username*/Library and see if there is a directory named ColorSync.
  2. If there is help the user add the .icc file to the Profiles directory located within ColorSync.
  3. If not, while logged in as the user, open /Applications/Utilities/ColorSync.app.
  4. Click on the Profiles icon in the upper ribbon.
  5. That will create the /Users/*username*/Library/ColorSync directory.
  6. Place the users .icc file in the Profiles directory.
