Disable App Lock in Microsoft Authenticator on iPhones

Summary

Unlock the Authenticator and Disable App Lock in the Settings menu

Body

Overview

After a recent update to the Microsoft Authenticator app, if an iPhone user has a passcode or biometric lock on their device, App Lock will be enabled by default. App Lock requires the user to enter their passcode or biometrics to unlock the Microsoft Authenticator app and respond to 2FA notifications, adding another layer of security to sign ins. This additional layer of security is not required by the College, and may be disabled.

Solution

  1. Open Microsoft Authenticator, and unlock it using your phone's passcode or biometrics
  2. Select the Hamburger Menu in the top left corner
  3. Select on Settings
  4. Under Security disable App Lock
