Resolving Passkey login issues in virtual Windows 11 Lab environment

Describes how users with a passkey MFA method can log into the virtual Windows 11 Lab environment without deleting their passkey.

Overview

Due to a vendor issue, users with passkey(s) setup as a multi-factor authentication method may face difficulties when trying to log into the virtual Windows 11 Lab computers (thin clients). We are working with the vendor on a solution as well as other workarounds.

After entering login credentials to sign into a virtual Windows 11 Lab computer, users with a passkey may see a message saying "Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key" and the process will appear to be stuck on loading:

If you are facing a prompt for "Face, fingerprint, PIN or security key" after signing into a virtual Windows 11 Lab computer and do not wish to delete your passkey(s) from your Microsoft Security Info, please follow these steps:

1. Scroll down and click on Privacy and Cookies:
2. Click Back:
3. Click Sign in Another Way:
4. Click Approve a request on my Microsoft Authenticator app (or any other pre-configured method) and complete the authentication process as usual:
