Overview
Visitors to Langara College who are not active students, active employees, or do not have an active computer account can connect to eduroam to gain wireless Internet access on campus.
A Langara employee would first need to request access for their visitor(s) on their behalf via the Request guest Wi-Fi accounts service. The employee would then share the Guest Wi-Fi Account credentials with the visitor(s).
Solution
You can connect to eduroam on your personal device by following the steps listed for each platform/device type.
CAUTION - Make sure you have your Guest Wi-Fi Account credentials ready before proceeding.
TIP - The Username you need to enter will be the Username + langara.ca. For example, username@langara.ca
Android Phone/Tablet
- Open the Settings app
- Go to Connections, then Wi-Fi
- Select eduroam
- Enter the username you were given in the Identity field and enter the password you were given in the Password field
- For CA certificate, select Don't validate
- Tap on the Connect button
Your device should now be connected to eduroam with access to the Internet.
iPhone/iPad
- Open the Settings app
- Tap on Wi-Fi
- Select eduroam
- Enter the username and password you were given in the Username and Password fields
- Tap on Join
- You will be prompted to trust the quake1.langara.bc.ca Wi-Fi certificate. Tap on Trust
Your device should now be connected to eduroam with access to the Internet.
Windows Laptop/Tablet
- Click on the Network Connection icon in your system tray located in the bottom right corner of your screen
- Click on the icon beside the Wi-Fi icon to view all available wireless networks
- Select eduroam and click on Connect
- Enter the Username and Password you were given and click on OK
- You may be asked to "Continue connecting?". Click on Connect
Your device should now be connected to eduroam with access to the Internet.
MacBooks
- Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the Finder menu bar in the top right corner
- Select eduroam
- You will be prompted to enter an Account Name and Password. Enter the username and password you were given and click on OK. Do not select a certificate.
Your device should now be connected to eduroam with access to the Internet.
