Enable first time student 2FA SMS authentication

Overview

For a faster, and more secure, experience Langara highly recommends using the Microsoft Authenticator app for 2FA authentication. 

Students can also choose to use SMS as an alternative to the phone app.

Follow instructions below to activate SMS token 2FA verification. 

Solution

1. Open any major browser and go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ 
2. Sign in to Office 365 with your Langara student email
3. After you choose Sign in, you'll be prompted for more information. Click Next.
4. ​​​Select I want to set up a different method
5. Choose Phone from drop down list
6. Enter your phone number and choose Text me a code
7. Click Next 
8. User received SMS message containing a 6-digit code to verify your device
