Unable to click icons or buttons in Citrix session

Overview

Citrix sessions can appear to be frozen when they lose connection with either mouse or keyboard.

Solution

If only the keyboard appears to be responding:

  1. Press the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys simultaneously
  2. Navigate to the Sign Out option using the Up and Down arrow keys
  3. Press the ENTER key when Sign Out is selected
  4. Once the session signs out completely, attempt to sign back in

If only the mouse appears to be responding:

  1. Left click the Start Menu button on the taskbar
  2. Left click the user icon on the left hand side of the Start Menu (above Documents, Pictures, Settings, and Power)
  3. Left click Sign Out  button
  4. Once the session signs out completely, attempt to sign back in

Symptoms

Unable to click on icons or buttons in Citrix session.

Session appears frozen but some keyboard or mouse commands will respond.
