Overview
When employees move to different offices, they will often need to take their phone with them as their extension or local is attached to the phone. Since we use IP phones they can be moved to any location on the campus and plugged into the network and they will work. You just need to inform IT of the move. This article refers to the physical phones and not phone extensions/locals, which is a different process that can be found in the "Request to move phone extension" from the list of related articles.
Solution
When you want to move a phone handset to a different location, please provide the following information in your ticket to IT:
- Phone extension. Otherwise called a local
- Langara Identification Number (LIN) on the phone
- Old location (room #)
- New location (room #)
- Reason for move
- Date of move
- Is the move temporary or permanent
